Leverage Restrictions During Special Market Sessions
Overview
To strengthen risk management and maintain trading stability during periods of high volatility, XStable applies temporary leverage caps and withdrawal restrictions to selected instruments during specific market sessions. This mechanism reduces risk exposure in extreme market conditions and helps keep the overall trading environment sound.
1. Affected Sessions
1.1 Major Macroeconomic Releases
Temporary leverage caps apply around the release of the following economic data:
Effective window: from 15 minutes before the release until 5 minutes after.
Applicable announcements (including but not limited to):
- USD-related announcements: Federal Reserve interest rate decisions (FOMC), CPI (Consumer Price Index), PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index), PPI (Producer Price Index), GDP (Gross Domestic Product), PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures), Retail Sales, NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls), ADP (private sector employment)
- Non-US economic announcements: key macroeconomic indicators released by non-US economies, such as CPI, PMI and GDP
1.2 Market Close and Open
During periods of lower liquidity or elevated price volatility, leverage caps apply to all instruments:
- 4 hours before the Friday market close
- 1 hour before the market close, Monday through Thursday
- 10 minutes after the Monday market open
2. Scope
2.1 Macroeconomic Events
| Announcement type | Affected instruments |
|---|---|
| USD-related | Forex, precious metals (gold / silver), indices |
| Non-US economies | Forex |
2.2 Close and Open Sessions
These session-based restrictions apply to all instruments.
3. Leverage Caps
During a restricted session, the maximum leverage available for newly opened positions is capped as follows (applies only to instruments that support adjustable leverage):
Current caps are unavailable. Check the trading screen for the latest limits.
GBP/USD uses fixed leverage and is not subject to these caps.
Maximum leverage may be adjusted temporarily in response to market volatility.
4. How It Works
- During a restricted session, new positions are opened under the caps above
- If your selected leverage is below the cap, nothing changes for you
- Once the restriction ends, normal leverage rules resume for new positions
- Existing positions are not affected by the temporary adjustment
- To strengthen your account against gap risk during volatile periods, withdrawals made while you hold open positions must leave your margin level at or above 1000%. This threshold may be adjusted based on market conditions
5. Risk Disclosure
Around macroeconomic releases and during low-liquidity sessions, volatility can increase sharply, spreads may widen, and slippage risk rises. XStable reserves the right to adjust maximum leverage before, during and after these sessions, and recommends that you:
- Keep leverage at a prudent level
- Plan your positions and risk exposure in advance
- Monitor your margin level closely
XStable continues to refine its risk controls to provide a safer and more stable trading environment.
